Discussion with BUSTAN Director Ra'ed Al-Mickawi

Meretz USA, together with Hashomer Hatzair and Ameinu, hosted at a discussion with BUSTAN Director Raed Al-Mickawi, who told his story of growing up as a Bedouin in the Negev and discussed the political and environmental issues facing the Bedouin community in Israel.

BUSTAN is an Israeli nonprofit and environmental and social justice organization. Bustan's mission is based on the belief that genuine security in the region depends on developing both sustainable environmental resource allocation and sustainable relations between Jews and Arabs in Israel. The organization works with marginalized communities in the Negev to minimize the impacts of urbanization, overpopulation, and over-consumption. Its projects are aimed at building sustainable and environmentally friendly community infrastructure.
