Please join
Meretz USA on Friday, February 20th at
12:30 PM for a discussion with Meretz MK Avshalom ("Abu") Vilan on the
latest political turmoil in Israel in the wake of the country's February 10
elections. Ten days after Israelis went to the polls, and just four days before the new 18th Knesset is gaveled into session, Abu Vilan will brief us about the tortuously complex coalition wrangling that will end in the formation of a new Israeli government. Will Israel's next Prime Minister be Bibi Netanyahu or Tzipi Livni? Will Israel be getting a government of the hard right or a center-right "Government of National Unity"? Will Avigdor Lieberman be a central figure in Israel's next government, or will Likud and Kadima keep him on the outside? Please join us for this important update on the crucial decisions facing Israel in the weeks ahead. Friday, February 20, 12:30pm, at Beit Shalom located at 114 W 26St, 10th Floor, New York, New York. Please Call Rachel at 212-242-4500 with your RSVP Please come with a suggested donation of $10 and light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there! *rsvp required* Born in Kibbutz Negba, MK
Abu Vilan has been a member of Knesset for Meretz for three consecutive terms.
He is a founder of Peace Now and previously served as secretary of the Mapam
party (one of the three parties that founded Meretz), secretary of the National
Kibbutz Movement, and an emissary of HaShomer Hatzair and Kibbutz Artzi in North
America. Abu Vilan graduated from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, with degrees
in economics and philosophy. He is a regular guest at Beit Shalom.
